Angela Smith, Senior Partner
Angela has been with SLF Lawyers as our Head Partner in Sydney for over 7 years, and is a natural leader and experienced lawyer with over 14 years of experience in commercial litigation during which time she has focused predominantly in practice areas of property, strata, debt recovery and insolvency. We are very excited to see the Sydney team continue to grow under Angela’s guidance. Congratulations Angela!
Amanda McDermott, Senior Associate
Amanda is a key member of our Melbourne Commercial Litigation team acting in a range of disputes with a special interest in shareholder oppression actions. She also provides risk management advice in regulatory matters, whilst sustaining a broad commercial practice where she works closely with clients to provide structuring and front end commercial advice. Amanda’s advanced inter-personal skills enable her to obtain fast, effective instructions from clients, in a professional and cost effective way. Her growing personal client base is a testament to this attribute and we congratulate her on her promotion to Senior Associate.
Alex Canavan, Senior Associate
Alex is a senior member of our Gold Coast office, and leads the national insurance team, working in motor vehicle and personal injury claims. He played an integral role in quadrupling the recoveries achieved for a large national insurer client last financial year, as well as taking significant steps to stamp out payments to well-established third parties operating in a fraudulent manner. Congratulations Alex!
Arizona Watson, Associate
Arizona is an integral member of our Insurance Team in the Brisbane office, working predominantly in the motor vehicle recoveries space, as well as handling a range of commercial litigation disputes. Arizona brings a pragmatic, fresh approach to her work and takes pride in delivering cost-effective and timely resolutions to best support her clients and their needs. Congratulations Arizona!
Emily Everett, Associate
Emily is a key member of our Insolvency and Commercial Litigation Team. Whilst her main practice involves dealing with Trustees, Liquidators and other professionals, Emily’s generalist background allows her to contribute to our criminal law, insurance and estate planning teams. Taking an empathetic approach in all of her work, Emily is a compassionate and detailed operator across all practice areas. Emily prides herself on being a role model to junior lawyers. She dedicates significant time being a mentor, supervisor and manager, regardless of how busy her own practice is. As an open advocate for mental health, the SLF team know Emily is always available to provide support and guidance. Congratulations Emily!
